What happens in an accident
The following steps apply in the event of an accident during a rental.
Immediate steps
The safety of all parties comes first, including contacting local emergency services if anyone is injured. Local police should be contacted to file a report where required by local law, particularly for any accident involving another vehicle or property. The scene should be documented with photographs, including all vehicles involved, license plates, road conditions, and visible damage, and information exchanged with any other parties involved.
Contacting Superkeys and the provider
Our support team should be contacted through official platform channels as soon as possible after ensuring safety and involving police. Independent repairs should not be arranged, as the Provider coordinates this process.
Next steps
- The Provider assesses the vehicle and handles any insurance claim, since insurance is arranged by the Provider, as described in Insurance Coverage Options.
- A security deposit or pre-authorization may be affected pending the outcome of the assessment, as described in Security Deposits.
- Final financial responsibility depends on the Provider's coverage and waiver terms and the accident circumstances, as described in Damage Waivers and Liability. Superkeys is not a party to this assessment.
When another party is at fault
Fault determinations and any claim against another party's insurance are matters for the Member, the Provider, and, where relevant, the parties' insurers to resolve directly. Documentation from police or witnesses supports this process.
