International members and foreign licenses
We welcome Members from around the world. The following outlines requirements when a license was issued outside the rental country.
International driving permit
If the license is not in the local language, or in English in most markets, an International Driving Permit is required alongside the original license. International Driving Permits are issued by the home country's motoring authority and should be arranged prior to travel, as they cannot be obtained on short notice while traveling.
Countries with additional requirements
Certain countries require foreign Members to hold a local translation or notarized copy of their license. This requirement varies by country, and should be confirmed with support or the Provider prior to travel.
Identity verification
International Members complete the same identity verification process described in Verification Requirements.
Booking from abroad
Search, booking, and verification can be completed entirely online prior to travel. Identity verification must be completed before a Booking Request can be submitted, so international Members are encouraged to complete it well in advance of arrival to avoid delays at pickup.
