Minimum age and license requirements
Age and licensing rules exist to protect you and the vehicles entrusted to you, and vary by vehicle category and country.
General minimums
We do not set or guarantee a universal minimum rental age. Minimum age and license requirements are set by the Provider for each vehicle and vary by vehicle category and destination. The requirements for a specific vehicle are always displayed on its listing, so check them before submitting a Booking Request.
Young driver surcharge
Where a Provider permits younger drivers on a given vehicle, you may be charged an additional surcharge or a higher security deposit. This is set by the Provider and shown on the listing where applicable.
License requirements
For a Self-Drive Vehicle, you need a valid, unrestricted driving license acceptable to the Provider for the full duration of the rental. It must be in the language required locally, or accompanied by an International Driving Permit, as described in International members and foreign licenses. A chauffeured service does not require you to hold a driving license, as described in Choosing self-drive or chauffeur.
Additional eligibility factors
Your eligibility can also depend on vehicle category and value, destination and local regulations, Provider-specific requirements, driving history, insurance requirements, and the outcome of identity verification. Providers and Superkeys may each independently decline a Booking Request.
